Graeme comes from a long line of violinists and fiddlers, starting with his great great grandfather John Simper, a fiddle player who rejoiced in the nickname Gypsy Jack, who arrived in the Ballarat district in 1852. Graeme’s great grandpa, Albert Simper was born in Ballarat in 1860. Albert used to carry his violin on horseback to play at local dances.  Every subsequent generation of the family produced a swag of violinists.  Graeme studied with the famous violinists Issy Spivakovsky (Melbourne) and Robert Pikler (Sydney Conservatorium, then completed his studies in music at Sydney University.

Graeme has available for sale a CD “Life on the goldfields” a compilation of songs written by Charles Thatcher who performed on the Victorian goldfields from 1854, with additional music composed by Graeme Adler based on his family history.
